AVENGED SEVENFOLD Guitarist Is Lovin' His New Chopper
August 21, 2006AVENGED SEVENFOLD guitarist Synyster Gates is such a motorcycle fan that he's had one made by the team behind "American Chopper". "It's a really long, stretched out low rider with a metallic snakeskin paint job and it's got my name, SYN, on the gas tank," he tells Australia's Time Off magazine. "It's just a fu**in' amazing bike! I had mine on Ozzfest so I've been taking it all over the place. It's really fun to just get on a bike and just go and, I guess in a way, to be able to leave the tour and not be confined and all that kind of stuff."
AVENGED SEVENFOLD have just wrapped up the Ozzfest tour in the U.S. with a show in Palm Beach. Like Warped, Ozzfest saw AVENGED SEVENFOLD graduate to the main stage, something Gates attributes to their recent album, "City of Evil".
"Yeah, it was much more a fearless approach this time around and we all have eclectic influences and we just used them all," Gates says of the album. "Whatever we wanted to write, we did. I think we concentrated on making a much more melodic album, pretty much writing whatever came to mind at any time. It's just a balls-out crazy record and I'm really proud of it."
Gates believes collaborating with producer Mudrock again aided the cause.
"We talked to a bunch of people [but] he actually did a great job on 'Waking the Fallen' and was so dedicated to it that we went to him again. The first time in the studio he was very hands on, the second time we really took to heart what he had taught us and really applied it and used it."
